Club Award Citation Info 2019-20
To Club Presidents,

Rotary International President Mark Maloney has reduced the requirements for the 2019-20 Rotary Citation this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak limiting some of the goals that clubs can achieve.  With these reduced requirements, most clubs in our district can achieve the citation (and many clubs can achieve the citation with Presidential Distinction!) , but its up to you to enter the data or "mark a goal as achieved" in Club Central.  Lets make this happen!

Attached is both a list of the goals and a summary of the status of  each club with respect to the Rotary Citation.  As of today, 10 of our 44 clubs are eligible.  Also attached is the "How-To" Rotary Citation Achievement Guide which explains in detail what RI requires for each goal and how to enter it into club central.  If you need help with this, please ask your Assistant Governor or myself.

Instead of achieving 5 of the 9 goals in each of the two categories, clubs will need to achieve a minimum of 3 goals in each category. The following is a list of goals that most clubs can achieve:

UNITE PEOPLE (Achieve 3 of 9)
1. Focus on engagement and retention of your current members!  Three of the nine goals are focused on membership growth and club membership will be measured as of July 1, 2020!  During this challenging time, please keep your membership engaged and don't lose members during this challenging time.
2. Four Goals that require a simple yes response in club central.  If you have achieved any of these goals, please mark theme as achieved in club central:
        - Appoint an active club membership committee comprised of no less than five members and report the chair to Rotary International
        - Conduct a study of your member’s occupations and work to align your membership with the mix of businesses and professions in your community
        -  Host an event for Rotary alumni, and highlight Rotary’s networking opportunities
        -  Sponsor a Youth exchange student

TAKE ACTION (Achieve 3 of 9)
1. Goal number 4 is to participate in a polio fundraiser.  Every club participated in the Purple Pinkie Race to Zero this year.  Simply mark this goal as achieved in club central.
2. Goal number 8 is the use Rotary's brand guidelines, People of Action campaign, etc.  If your club participated in the District Facebook campaign, this qualifies.  Also, if you are using Rotary's brand guidelines, but are not part of the Facebook campaign, this qualifies as well.  If completed, simply mark this goal as achieved in club central.
3. Goal number 7 is to partner with a corporate, governmental or nongovernmental entity to work on a project.  Many clubs indicated to me that they were doing this.  If competed, simply mark this goal as achieved in club central.
4. Goal number 5 is to conduct a significant local or international service project.  Almost every club can qualify for this goal.  As an example, 37 of our clubs received district grants, and the clubs who did not apply also have done significant projects.  If completed, simply mark this goal as achieved in club central.
5. Three additional Goals that require a simple yes response in club central.  If you have achieved any of these goals, please mark theme as achieved in club central:
     - Appoint an active club Foundation committee comprised of no less than five members and report the chair to Rotary International
     - Post successful club projects with details about activities, volunteer hours, and funds raised, on rotary.org
     - Arrange for club’s members to talk with the media to tell your club’s and Rotary’s story

CITATION WITH PRESIDENTIAL DISTINCTION (Silver, Gold, Platinum levels)
There are three goals that require a simple yes response in club central.  If you have achieved any of these goals, please mark theme as achieved in club central:
     - Connect families. Organize a family-oriented service project that connects families of your members, youth program participants and others.
     - Connect professionally. Initiate or continue a leadership, personal or professional development program to enhance member’s skills.
     - Connect community. Show how your club’s members are People of Action by promoting your club and its service activities on social media at least four times per month. The District Facebook campaign contributes to this.

If your club is eligible, I strongly encourage each of you to enter the information needed to achieve the citation.  We really would like celebrate and honor all of our clubs with this special award.

Thanks for all you do for Rotary,
DG Herb
