Rotary Club of Slatington donated $7,200 to five local non-profit organizations:
- $2,500 – Slatington Public Library – Upgrade security & ease of access to building.
- $800 – Emerald Playground Association – Community Ice Rink. Funds used to purchase tarp, lumber and miscellaneous hardware to construct this coming winter’s rink.
- $2,000 – Walnutport Canal – Purchase Keepsake Exhibit Table Case.The glass showcase will display the 1903 Anchor Hotel Ledger (built in 1834) so it can be read without touching the fragile pages.
- $900 – Northern Lehigh Education Foundation – Funding for a Hydroponics Tower. NL School District STEAM Camp campers will learn about how plants can be grown in a hydroponics system and potential career opportunities related to this growing science. Children in grades 3-6 (approximately 85 students) will learn and apply skills in Science,Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math during this program.
- $1,000 – Springside Sportsman Club, Inc. 2nd Annual Kids’ Fishing Contest The Kids’ fishing contest was held on May 7th.There were approximately 200-250 children who participated.
