Welcome to December, Disease Prevention and Treatment month for Rotary International. Rotarians help to treat disease by building hospitals and infrastructure to allow medical personnel, patients, and government to work together. Rotarians prevent disease by working on health education, screenings, and routine care. And it’s Disease Prevention and Treatment Month in District 7430. We continue to fund PolioPlus, which serves as a platform for COVID-19 in addition to polio. We help to build hospitals and facilities for clean water and waste water treatment. We educate people about disease prevention. We follow COVID-19 guidance.

Our Project Showcase speakers this month are Dr. Michael Seidner, District 7430 COVID-19 Advisor, and Souderton-Telford Rotarian Kate Hoath. Dr. Seidner discusses his work in implementing our COVID-19 policies. Kate describes her work to establish a hospital in Burkina Faso through her nonprofit organization, Konkourona Alliance Foundation, Inc.

Our Showcase Tuesday speaker is Dr. Noel Alidio, an internationally known Rotarian and physician practicing in the Philippines. He describes his work with malaria eradication and the development of vaccines to combat malaria.

District achievements are on track to meet or exceed all goals. Here are some updates on some specific, measurable goals for the 2021-2022 Rotary year:

December is an active time in the lives District 7430 Rotarians. Many of us enjoyed visits by RID Valarie Wafer. Our Clubs are hosting holiday parties. Please remember to take caution with the coronavirus: update your vaccination, wear a mask and, if one of your members tests positive following an in-person meeting, give notice to Dr. Seidner and get his advice on tracing, notice to members, and  COVID testing. When I visit your Club and Area mixers, I bring a mask and share ideas about being our best selves through Rotary.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
